​​Living Wage Foundation - Recognised Service Provider

Tatry Group Living Wage
Tatry Group is a Recognised Service Provider proudly working together with the Living Wage Foundation, the organisation at the heart of the movement for fair pay.
 
We believe in paying a decent wage to our staff, who carry out vital work for many organisations, and therefore always provide a Living Wage costed bid to all our clients. This gives them the chance to decide if the Living Wage is right for their organisation. We also pay the Living Wage to all staff in our head office and core functions

The real Living Wage is an independently calculated, voluntary rate of pay that is based on the cost of living. It is higher than the government’s minimum and thousands of companies choose to pay these rates to their staff. 

We are delighted to be recognised for showing leadership on this issue, as an organisation with people at its heart and one that is focused on having a positive impact on society. 

On our membership, Living Wage Foundation Director, Katherine Chapman said: “The benefits the Living Wage brings to staff and business are clear. I welcome the leadership shown by Tatry Group on this important issue.”

Our support of this initiative is evidence of our progressive approach that recognises the many social and economic benefits that a fair pay rate brings. Put simply, it represents a ‘win win win’ situation; better for the individual, better for business and more broadly society as a whole.

​​ABOUT THE LIVING WAGE FOUNDATION

The Living Wage was launched by Citizens UK in 2001. The principle behind the Living Wage is simple and powerful: that work should bring dignity and should enable families to enjoy the essentials of life.

The Living Wage is an hourly rate set independently and updated annually. The Living Wage is calculated according to the basic cost of living in the UK. Employers choose to pay the Living Wage on a voluntary basis. The Living Wage enjoys cross party support.
 
The London Living Wage is currently £10.85 per hour and covers all boroughs in Greater London. The UK Living Wage for outside of London is currently £9.50 per hour. These figures are set annually by the Resolution Foundation.

WHAT ABOUT THE GOVERNMENT’S NATIONAL LIVING WAGE?

In July 2015, the Chancellor of the Exchequer announced that the UK Government would introduce a compulsory ‘national living wage’. This is an increase in the government minimum wage for staff over 25 years old. It was introduced in 2016 and the current rate is £8.72 per hour. The rate is separate to the Living Wage rate calculated by the Living Wage Foundation.  The government rate is based on median earnings while the Living Wage Foundation rates are calculated according to the cost of living. ​

BENEFITS FOR BUSINESS

An independent study of the business benefits of implementing a Living Wage policy in London found:
  • More than 80% of employers believe that the Living Wage had enhanced the quality of the work of their staff
  • Absenteeism had fallen by approximately 25%
  • 66% of employers reported a significant impact on recruitment and retention within their organisation.
  • 70% of employers felt that the Living Wage had increased consumer awareness of their organisation’s commitment to be an ethical employer
